- How the efficiency of a heat pump is calculated
- Frost protection - methods used and Vaillant's minimum requirements
- General requirements such as open water volume, temperatures, flow rates, heat curves
- System design considerations
Vaillant advises enrolling on this course before you proceed to our product-specific installation courses unless you are already an experienced installer or hold heat pump installation qualifications.
In centre practical: Full day
This practical, in-centre course is aimed at installers who have attended the aroTHERM plus part 1 and part 2 online lessons.
During this face-to-face session, you will cover an overview of the original online course contents for familiarisation, plus a walk around the installation at one of our Centres of Excellence.
Topics covered:
- Main components and accessories
- The order of the installation process, including wiring to the outdoor unit, the indoor unit and various accessories, following the schematic drawing.

Boiler training courses
The ecoTEC pro and ecoFIT pure diagnostic and fault finding course combines theory and practical activities in one of our centres of excellence.
You will start the day by accessing the boiler interface coding structure and we will show you how to utilise this information to assist with fault diagnosis.
Attendees will be guided through the sequence of operation of Vaillant appliances, with a spotlight on potential failure points and an overview of how each internal component works.
You will identify and learn how to resolve water quality issues to prevent premature component failure.
There will be an overview on safe electrical isolation before working on the appliances, focusing on checking the supply electrics and polarity before covering basic use of a multi-meter to prove diagnosis of the faults based on the principles built up throughout the course.
- Candidates will gain an awareness of the following: -
- Main features and benefits of the range
- Available variants
- Installation notes and comparison with the previous version
- New style appliance interface
- Commissioning – including the new installation assistant
- Latest developments in connectivity
- Critical maintenance information
This one day course provides hands-on training in servicing and diagnostics on the Vaillant commercial range from 48 kW to 120 kW ecoTEC plus models.
Aimed at heating and maintenance engineers, it covers interface navigation, fault code analysis and recommended service procedures.
Participants will learn to identify and resolve common issues and ensure compliance with safety standards. The course includes a practical workshop using live or dry ecoTEC units, offering real-world experience and manufacturer-aligned best practices.
On completion, attendees will be equipped with the necessary skillset to maintain performance, improve efficiency, and reduce downtime when maintaining our commercial range.
Controls training courses
